BMW Team Teo Martin was again on top of the podium this Saturday in first GT Open race of the weekend at Paul Ricard. Miguel Ramos and Roldán Rodríguez have been the winners after a vibrant race and a dramatic final lap with four cars fighting for the win.
The Qualifying session was a good start of the day for the team with Gustavo Yacaman P3 and Miguel Ramos P4 in a full BMW Team Teo Martin second row and ready to fight for victory from the beginning.
Both drivers keep their positions after the start while Côme Ledogar was increasing the gap with Fabrizio Crestani, Gustavo Yacamán and Miguel Ramos lap by lap. After some laps it was clear that pitstops would be crucil again and BMW Team Teo Martin had a good strategy for both pairs. Yacamán let Ramos pass in his last lap before pits trying to get some space with his pursuer.
The Portuguese driver gaves the relay to Roldán Rodríguez, who continued with early Ramos’ job withow mistakes and taking care of the tyres. In the other hand, Gustavo Yacamán entered one lap after his fellows to change with Fernando Monje, who had to retire after some laps because of an alternator problem. After all pitstops, Roldán Rodríguez was P1 with 6-seconds gap with Thomas Biagi and just mid-race. The end of the race was a dramatic one with Biagi, Calderelli and Cioci getting closer to Roldan’s back fighting for the victory and the podium.
However, Rodríguez showed his great driving skills closing the doors in every corner during the two last laps to get the second win of the season and now the Car #1 is in the title fight.
After Race 1 at Paul Ricard, Phill Keen & Shaun Balfe are leaders with 55 points and after them: Miguel Ramos & Roldán Rodríguez with 49, Thomas Biagi & Fabrizio Crestani with 46, Duncan Tappy & Michael Benham with 44, Nicky Pastorelli & Joshua Webster with 40…Gustavo Yacaman & Fernando Monje are 10th with 22.
