WRC ROUND 12 RALLY CHILE

On Sunday, September 13, the final day (Day 3) of the 2026 FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) Rally Chile Biobío took place. The rally commenced from the service park in Concepción, Biobío Region, in south-central Chile. The TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Rally Team (TGR-WRT) duo of Oliver Solberg and Elliott Edmondson (driving the No. 99 GR YARIS Rally1) secured the victory. Endless, a brake component supplier, played a crucial role in their success.

Having taken the lead on the first day, Solberg and Edmondson maintained control of the race throughout, never relinquishing the top spot. Sébastien Ogier and Vincent Landais (Car No. 1), who had finished third overall the previous day, secured second place overall. Sami Pajari and Marko Salminen crew (Car No. 5), who had entered by TGR-WRT2, finished fourth overall. Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin crew (Car No. 33), who had been second overall the previous day, dropped to fifth overall after losing time while changing a tire on SS15. Takamoto Katsuta and James Fulton crew (Car No. 18), who had retired for the day on Day 1, managed to score points on the final day and finished 36th overall.

As a result, TGR-WRT secured its sixth consecutive Manufacturers’ Championship, achieving its 11th victory in 12 rounds this season. This accomplishment equaled the record for the most consecutive WRC titles, a feat previously achieved by Lancia between 1987 and 1992. For Toyota, this marked their tenth WRC Manufacturers’ Championship title. 

Lancia has tied its record for the most wins. With Solberg securing his second victory, all five TGR-WRT drivers have now achieved multiple wins this season.

– Oliver Solberg: 209 points

– Sébastien Ogier: 171 points

– Adrien Fourmaux: 167 points

– Takamoto Katsuta: 163 points

– Hyundai Shell Mobis World Rally Team: 410 points

– TOYOTA GAZOO Racing WRT2: 227 points

– M-Sport Ford World Rally Team: 152 points

The next rally, Rally Italia Sardegna, will take place from October 1 to 4. It will be the first rally of the season to be held in autumn since 2020. The demanding island event features fast but narrow gravel stages and a rocky, abrasive surface.
